For the week of 4 February 2018

The impact of natural forces

Algiz is the half-month stave through 13 February. Laguz is the intuitive stave, and Ingwaz indicates the planet’s message to us. Read right to left is Algiz, Laguz, then Ingwaz.

The half-month rune is set by the runic calendar, and governs for a tad over two weeks (a fortnight). The intuitive stave (meaning, I draw it blind) indicates the life force most available to us, which brings the focus of the half-month rune into sharper focus for the present week. It suggests how we can handle these energies. The planetary stave (also a blind draw) indicates the state and needs of the planet, and where noted, of Nature, well beyond the earthly sphere.

If you’re curious about how I do the cast every week, catch a couple of my Instagram videos, which explain the intention behind The Weekly Rune, and what makes it different from other ways of casting.

Best yet, it’s short, little conversational bites designed to help us all bring our paths more deeply into the everyday. It’s available across all popular podcast platforms, including iTunes.

We’ve finally broken out of the Perthro-Ehwaz reversed combination, which hints that we’ve come through some measure of tension, and emerged in a clear, new place.  Last week it had us put the brakes on to slow things a bit, while our cast this week focuses on passive action.

Which isn’t at all the same as passivity.

Algiz in its season brings a time of standing our ground firmly, and the elements rallying to support us in doing so. It’s a good time to come into feeling what standing in our power is like. Literally, practice it this week. This stave embodies the strength and protection of our Home Spirits, such that when we truly merge (shapeshift) into them, they are with us everywhere we go. This is Nature as it should be.

The powerful placement of other runes in the cast indicates that we’ve done that work, at least for what is to be accomplished at this time. Our job with Algiz for now is to stay in that groove, expand it where we’re called to, stay attentive to the Home Spirits, and start to feel that connection as a permanent ritual.

Laguz reinforces that relationship with the message of right flow. As in, we’re doing that, right now. Meaning”water,” this rune comes when we are in sync with the elements around us, perhaps even with All That Is. This kind of alignment isn’t as emphatic about manifestation as a result of being in flow; rather, the realization of being in flow when it’s happening. Maybe awesome things come of it, though that’s not the focus.

Ingwaz reinforces the influence of natural forces, this week. Where Laguz is elemental, Ingwaz is the straightup force of the sacred seed come to fruition. Some endeavor or trajectory has reached the conclusion of its building phase and is ready to be unleashed upon the world.

This week, a host of natural influences are supporting movement, both in right flow and the timing of being finished and ready to move.  Realize that the protective work of Algiz has been done. The power is on. Through Laguz it flows, and with Ingwaz it becomes its own force in the world.

Half-month Considerations

  • How do you acknowledge readiness?
  • How comfortable are you with flow?
  • How do you sense All Things?
