For the week of 22 April 2018
Look back for wealth
Mannaz is the half-month stave through 29 April. Othala is the intuitive stave, and Fehu indicates the rune’s message to us. Read right to left is Mannaz, Othala, then Fehu.

The half-month rune is set by the runic calendar, and governs for a tad over two weeks (a fortnight). The intuitive stave (meaning, I draw it blind) indicates the life force most available to us, which brings the focus of the half-month rune into sharper focus for the present week. It suggests how we can handle these energies. The planetary stave (also a blind draw) indicates the state and needs of the planet, and where noted, of Nature, well beyond the earthly sphere.

Our first week with Mannaz at the helm was good but tricky. On top of any personal snags for becoming more socially involved, we were met with the transition out of Mercury retrograde and into Saturn retrograde, as well as movement of Chiron into Aries. All of these movements spell scrutiny of personal vulnerabilities, particularly those from the deep past, which we now have the option to air with stronger elemental support. That’s great, yet still challenging to do, even with the best of esoteric weather.
Mannaz is the social rune, which instigates chosen movement into new social groups. This process is elective, and both a radical opportunity and the result of a long path of choices, re: Initiation of Ingwaz.
Curious this week–in Othala we have a suggestion on who that social group should be. Othala translates to “inheritance,” though it refers to the dynamic of all things lineage. The group we’re being called to invite in to give feedback on the current dynamic are our Ancestors. The subtle hint here is that we haven’t been doing that, and it’s time. In my shamanic work, I find the Ancestors are the least incorporated group of the personal Guide menagerie, and the most important. Yes, I just said that Ancestors are more important to your spiritual support than Guides.
The payoff for working with the Ancestors on current life developments is significant. We’ve never had Fehu come up in TWR as often as it has over the last two months, particularly as the voice of the Multiverse. This is deeply encouraging that our efforts have a payout that spans beyond just ourselves.
This week we stand the potential to become better at who we are. Reach out to the Ancestors. State what’s needed. State that in order for their needs to be filled, our must be met. Ask what they need.
And do it.
Half-month Considerations
- Who are your Ancestors?
- How do you connect with them?
- How do your honor them?
