For the week of 20 May 2018
Inner change = Outer change
Ingwaz is the half-month stave through 29 May. Uruz is the intuitive stave, and Hagalaz indicates Nature’s message to us. Read right to left is Ingwaz, Uruz, then Hagalaz.

The half-month rune is set by the runic calendar, and governs for a tad over two weeks (a fortnight). The intuitive stave (meaning, I draw it blind) indicates the life force most available to us, which brings the focus of the half-month rune into sharper focus for the present week. It suggests how we can handle these energies. The planetary stave (also a blind draw) indicates the state and needs of the planet, and where noted, of Nature, well beyond the earthly sphere.
If you’re curious about how I do the cast every week, catch a couple of my Instagram videos, which explain the intention behind The Weekly Rune, and what makes it different from other ways of casting.
Check out my What in the Wyrd podcast, which is available across all popular podcast platforms, including Google Play and iTunes. Last week’s episode sheds a great deal of insight onto the dynamics in play with Ingwaz over the next two weeks, and may help facilitate how to deal with them better, overall.
Last week we discussed that Ingwaz hits hard. It’s not a rune known for abrasive tension, change, or any of other other rune qualities that result in a sharp inhale. In fact, Ingwaz doesn’t get a lot of attention at all when considered next to more dramatic runes. The reality is, Ingwaz is the result of a lot of dramatic change. It is the final step in a long sequence of initiation, so in a way, the deeper drama has already played out by the time it gets here.
A really lovely and on pointe rune to complement that combo is Uruz. The rune of body, it represents the synergistic meeting point of the unconscious and the conscious. It’s that fusion spot where our unhoned wild meets our domesticated function. Regarding Ingwaz, this means we can take comfort in knowing the new manifestation is not only the result of our most primal power expressed, but that it will continue to be expressed with our focused intent. The fusion of deeply seated will and power has come to fruition, and we can express it through our lives.
…Which makes Hagalaz very interesting as the voice of nature, this week. Normally Hagalaz comes with the harbinger of external SHAZAAM that none of us really want to tangle with. It means “hail,” which is no one’s friend until new growth comes from the water it leaves behind. I’m stepping out on a limb in reading this rune as part of the whole cast, and interpreting it as meaning the synergy we’re feeling within will generate synchronistic change in our lives.
This week remember to stay the course–our course. This is wanted. This was planned. This is coming.
Lessons in manifestation and focus. Manifestations in lessons and observation.
Half-month Considerations
- How do you recognize what you asked for?
- How do you perceive inner-outer connection?
- How do you control your mind?
It’s a pretty good deal, over all. If you need help with any of it, feel free to email me. If you want some in-depth undivided time, feel free to schedule a session.
And thank you for what you do, here.
