The Most Unreasonable Decision of Your Life?
It’s true. I’d like to help you make the most unreasonable decision you’ve ever made in your life.
Here’s the thing…
People laugh when I tell them I’m certain I would have been sorted into Slytherin (the Pottermore Sorting Hat chose Ravenclaw, but we can’t expect it to catch every nuance, yes?). They insist I’m kind, compassionate, helpful–that I couldn’t possibly be sorted into Slytherin.
I am those things, most of the time. What gets missed about Slytherins, though, is that they’re at peace with Shadow. Sure in the story, proper, we meet plenty of nasty, bitter, angry Slytherins who, instead of meeting the initiations of Shadow, fell prey to them.
I don’t want to give away too much of the story–for those of you living on planet Ross 128 b–who haven’t read the Harry Potter series, so no worries there. Generally speaking, in the end we meet Slytherins (and Gryffindors, Hufflepuffs, and Ravenclaws) who do meet the initiation of Shadow with grace and grit, and come out the other end of it capable of bearing their gifts to the world as elders with ethics and integrity, and the ability to sustain in and depart this world as a healed ancestor.
So what exactly is this unreasonable decision?
I’m asking you to claim your calling.
I know. It’s the buzz word of the day, yet so often left out of its context are the words initiation, sacrifice, tending, and service. Because of those omissions, choosing to claim your calling is the most unreasonable thing you will ever do. And yes, I say “claim your calling,” not “follow your calling,” because all calling does is signal your attention. Your calling carries no leash carefully leading you between the margins of where to go and what to do. What you do after you claim it is fully on you.
What makes claiming your calling so unreasonable? Because it will never be the practical thing to do. It will never be the easy choice. It’s not the convenient solution to all of life’s problems. Undertaking such an initiation will never be rational.
So then why do it?
Because your heart longs for initiation into its deepest soul truths
Because you feel a calling to service that you don’t know how to soothe
Because you feel drawn to show up and bear your unique gift to your community, to the planet
Because your spirits won’t leave that feeling alone
Because you seek a grounded way to thrive in all of the above
What does claiming your calling and making it your life have to do with Shadow? Because Shadow is what we don’t know about ourselves. That’s all. Until you claim your calling, it remains the biggest Shadow in your life.
So how do you claim your calling–that’s what we all want to know. That’s where I come in. I can help you claim it, and more. My calling is to work with you in crafting a path that helps you bear your medicine to the world. It’s what I’m good at, and what I wake up in the morning wanting to do.
It’s also so very unreasonable for me, and I will spend my life doing it.
Every year I extend the invitation to begin The Spirited Path, the soul tending training intensive that I ment
or. You can find detailed information about the Intensive–everything from the territory covered, to your time commitment, pacing, and cost. Do keep in mind that we can scale the cost to make it affordable and paid over time. If soul tending is what you feel led to in life, we will find a way to make it work, financially.
You can begin the Intensive in January or July. If you have questions and want to talk further about it, schedule a 20-minute free consultation. Just let me know, and we’ll set it up.
If you’re feeling rather unreasonable, go ahead and tell me about Your Calling Now, and we’ll set up a time to discuss it.
But you know what–maybe your unreasonable thing doesn’t include the soul tending of others. Maybe it’s to live life more deeply as an animist, or to tend yourself, or to live that wild dream you never thought you could. Whatever’s on your heart that seems unreasonable yet won’t let it go, let’s talk about it. Because yes, I may know nothing practical about the unreasonable thing you want to do, but I can still help you do it, and walk it with you.
After all, no matter what the Sorting Hat says, I’m a Slytherin at heart, and when it comes to facing Shadow, I’m a bad-ass partner in crime.
Please share this with whomever you feel would benefit. And whatever unreasonable thing is on your heart to do, know it’s your soul’s most loving gift, and that I support you in bringing it.
Thank you for all that you do.
Do it big.
