Listen to What in the Wyrd Episode 107 – Tending with Fehu

Traditional lore – Fehu is the rune of tending our assets, which to our Old Norse ancestors would have been cattle. In modern association it is considered wealth, which can be literal financial assets, or anything that brings value to our lives. What’s relevant is that assets require our attention regularly to grow and stay healthy, as we require them.

Animistic lore – If we take the Elder Futhark as keys offering insight into how to human well, Fehu is the first indication of being soul-in-form. Given that, our greatest asset is soul-form connections, or relationships, and interdependence. Everything we do in life is to tend it. Likewise, as human souls in form realize that we have the most agency in Midgard. As such, we are the custodians of Earth. It’s our job to tend it. In order to tend it well, first we have to value it. And to value the Earth, we have to value being souls in form, and realize that we aren’t separate from Earth.

Fehu is tending our assets to the best of our agency

to create wealth for the relationships we most impact. The act of Fehu brings interdependence.

Tending with Fehu Introspections

  • How does language define you correctly? Incorrectly?
  • How do you demonstrate your value to yourself?
  • With what life assets are you most entwined?
  • How do you experience reciprocity in those relationships?
  • How do you perceive the relationship between your agency and your wealth?
