Mystery School?

In ancient cultures when one experienced a spiritual awakening, s/he turned to the tribal shaman to gain insight into this experience. The shaman would give the person exercises to further stimulate spiritual awakening, resulting in peaceful enlightenment, re-acquisition of spiritual gifts, healing, reconnection to All That Is. This process of learning became known as Mystery School, which evolved into an elaborate series of initiations. The learning objective was unique to each student, as was the lesson. The impact of learning in this manner revealed to each student the mysteries of the Universe, in exactly the way s/he needed most.

I teach in a class format, as well as a Mystery School format. Classes are generally one day, except where noted, and the material covered in each is fairly well described ahead of class. The curriculum for classes is set and only self-directed in that your journey experiences are unique. Mystery School is based on a largely self-directed curriculum, in that you are not made aware of the curriculum, other than the session topic, ahead of time. Mystery School also spans over several weeks, during which you have many exercises in class and as homework.

At our mystery school, each gathering will demonstrate unique exercises in furthering your spiritual path; thus, each class will be a unique initiation for you. A desciption of each curriculum is found by following the Classes link.

Schedule and Fees
The curriculum of each session will be based on the current session topic. Mystery School Classes span 8 weeks, a total of 4 classes meeting every other week. Classes begin around 6:15pm and last until around 9:30pm. They are held in my home, in Fuquay-Varina, NC. for each class missed. If you miss a class and wish to make it up, please make arrangements with me to do so.

Objective and Curriculum
We will focus on the masculine archetype, how we manifest it individually and collectively, learn how "he" feels about the way we acknowledge "him" here, and what our role is in that process.

Prior to attending the first class, please communicate with me via email, phone, or over dinner, just so that we can have some level of rapport before class begins.:). This preparatory discussion helps me to help you stay on track through the session, and helps me to facilitate the dynamic of the group.

Many of these exercises are based on techniques shown to me by my guides, using meditation, shamanic journey, creative arts, drumming, dance, and other expressions. You will not know ahead of time which exercises we will do on any given night. The element of it being a mystery keeps you from building expectations, placing limitations on your ability to grow. In that regard, you are your own mystery. You decide what you want to learn by opening to yourself, and with the progression of each class the Universes, in cooperation with your soul, deliver the lesson that you need, when you need it, for growth.

Please be prepared to talk about your progress openly in class. You do not have to divulge anything you don’t want to, but sharing your own information often helps others. Moreover, speaking your truth empowers your truth.

Requirements
Please have completed the Power Spirits Retrieval Class, or possess other comparable experience with shamanic journeying. If you are unsure of the breadth of your experience with shamanic journeying, let's talk about your comfort level and see if Mystery School is right for you.

There is homework. You will need to journey between classes to stay on task with your objective and to get the most insight possible to meet that objective. I will also require that you touch base with me individually during the off weeks via email, phone, or over coffee, to ensure that you are flowing in your chosen direction. If you need to talk with me about events transpiring from the techniques you are learning, or you feel stuck and require facilitated journey, we will need to do that in private sessions.

Location
Classes are taught in my home, in Cary, NC, unless otherwise noted. Please note that I have pets, should allergies be a problem. As well, please inform me in advance of any accessiblity concerns or physical limitations.

Supplies Needed For Class
Paper, pen, scarf, pillow, blanket (whatever you need to be comfy on the floor), light snacks (very light snacks and beverages provided), rattle and/or drum (if you have them). You will be made aware of materials needed for specific exercises in advance.

Supplies Needed For Homework
Shamanic drumming CD, available at the Dancing Moon Bookstore in Raleigh, or through mail order online at the Foundation for Shamanic Studies .

Before Attending Class
Please don't drink alcohol for 24 hours prior to class. Please don't wear perfume or cologne. Please don't eat a heavy meal within 2-3 hours prior to attending. Wear loose, comfy clothing.
